Israeli troops abducted, early on Sunday, a Palestinian university student in the central West Bank city of Ramallah.

Palestinian media sources and witnesses said that Israel soldiers, stationed at a mobile military roadblock, near the Khan Al-Ahmar neighborhood, mainly on the Ramallah-Jericho street, intercepted student, Majdy Abu Zaid, 20, before abducting him.

The sources added that the soldiers took Abu Zaid to an unknown destination.

Israeli military abduction operations occur on a near daily basis, and involve the invasion of civilian homes in cities, towns and villages across West Bank. These actions are seen as related to the continued Israeli oppression of the Palestinian population.

Abductions have recently increased, following Israeli announcement of plans to annex 30 percent of the West Bank territories, to the the full sovereignty of the occupation state of Israel.

Currently imprisoned in 20 Israeli prisons, are more than 5,000 Palestinian prisoners, hundreds of whom are children and women.
